Herbert Steinberg’ s Biography

Herbert Steinberg has 20 years of experience working as an executive for large Corporations and 13 years as consultant.

Mr. Steinberg led several major organizational repositioning , and large processes of management alignment to the business strategy. Remarkable works were carried out by him for the Board of Banco Santander, Citibank, and McDonald's. Herbert founded his own company, MESA Corporate Governance, a consulting firm focused on Corporate Gove rnance best practices and “ sparring for C-level” executives and Board Members.

As an independent consultant, he has conducted a number of restructuring processes. Among these, the turnaround for Crefisul Bank, privatization of Banespa and thereafter the merger into Santander, the Deutsche Bank´s purchase of Bradesco's equity control of CPM, besides other important downsizing processes, such as the closing of Levis plant in Cotia. He has also performed relevant work as coach and counselor for CEOs and Board Members.

Mr. Steinberg is also a Professor of MBA programs at BSP - Business School São Paulo, where he teaches Corporate Governance. As a result of his wide range of cultural interests and knowledge of up-to-date concepts applied to the modern organization, has been often invited to give lectures at conferences and seminars, both in Brazil and abroad.

As a writer, he authored 6 books, number of articles and several chapters in other works; his book "A dimensão humana da Governança Corporativa" ["The human dimension in Corporate Governance"] is already in its 3rd edition, and his latest “A Família Empresária” (Family Business), a reference work in that subject in Brazil.

Chairman of the Corporate Governance Strategic Committee of the American Chamber in São Paulo. He is also an active member of FBN – Family Business Network (based in Lausanne – Switzerland), ICGN - International Corporate Governance Network (based in London – UK) and IBGC – Instituto Brasileiro de Governança Corporativa (based in São Paulo – Brazil).

Mr. Herbert Steinberg is a business administrator, with post graduation degree in Business Administration by FGV – Fundação Getúlio Vargas, and title as Independent Board Member by the Directors’ Consortium of University of Chicago, Stanford Law School and The Wharton School - USA.
